Server Named Professional of Year
Karen Server, Purchasing Manager for the City of Ames, has been named Professional of the Year by the Iowa Public Procurement Association (IPPA). The IPPA Professional of the Year award recognizes outstanding service by chapter members through their contributions to the public procurement profession. She was nominated by a peer for her hosting, attending, and supporting the attendance of her staff at IPPA and National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) training and events.
Server joined the City of Ames in May 2011. She received her Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification in 2011 and her Certified Professional Public Officer (CPPO) certification in 2017. Server has a number of years of experience in purchasing at Iowa State University and in private industry. She is responsible for the supervision of activities of a centralized purchasing division including procurement, mail and messenger services, and printing services for the City of Ames.
Server was presented the award at the IPPA’s fall meeting on Oct. 16.
