Reconstruction of the east-west alley north of Main Street between Duff and Douglas avenues will begin Wednesday, Aug. 28. All or portions of this alley will be closed to traffic during construction. Sidewalks at the alley approaches may also be closed at times during the project.
The City has contracted with Con-Struct to complete this reconstruction. The existing alley pavement will be removed and replaced with new 7-inch concrete pavement. Some storm sewer intake improvements will also take place. Reconstruction of this alley is expected to be completed within three to four weeks.
If any deliveries or other access during construction requires the use of the alley, please contact Nathan Willey, project engineer, at email@example.com or 515.239.5436. An additional trash container will be provided at the end of the alley at Douglas Avenue for use by impacted residents and businesses as needed.
All are encouraged to take note of construction activity and exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. As with all paving operations, saw cutting of joints in newly poured pavement is critical and it may be disruptive beyond normal work hours. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
