Rummage Rampage Can Make Moving Easier!

Post Date:07/19/2019 3:30 PM
It's almost that time of year when lots of people are moving. Here is an event that may help make your move easier.

The fourth annual Rummage RAMPage will be held from Friday, July 26, through Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave. The City of Ames, in partnership with the ISU Office of Sustainability, hosts this community garage sale designed to keep reusable items out of the waste stream. The event grew from the desire to repurpose items often left on the curb during the annual move out and lease changeovers, and to keep these items out of the landfill. Rummage RAMPage works by selling items that are donated. Volunteers from local non-profit groups help run the sale and share in any profit.
This year’s event hours are as follows:

• Friday, Aug. 2, noon - 6 p.m.

• Saturday, Aug. 3, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Donations may be dropped off at the Intermodal Facility from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 26, and during sale hours from Saturday, July 27, through Friday, Aug. 2. No donations will be accepted on the last day of the sale, Saturday, Aug. 3.

Pick-up service will be available for Ames residents who want to donate items but have no way to transport them to the ramp. The pick-up fee is $25 for Ames residents and $10 for college students. This service is available only to households within Ames city limits. The fees include picking up two large furniture items and any small items (the equivalent of a pick-up or car load). Ames residents who want a collection crew to pick up donations MUST sign up and submit payment information on the Story County Volunteer Center website at www.vcstory.org

The deadline to sign up for pick-up service is 5 p.m. Thursday, July 25.
