A project to repair sanitary sewers from 9th to 18th Streets along Grand Avenue will begin on the evening of Sunday, July 14. This work will require one lane closure on Grand Avenue in each direction.
The City of Ames has contracted with Synergy Contracting to make repairs to the sanitary sewer system. This work includes saw cutting, rehabilitation of manhole tops, and spot repairs. For this phase, crews will be active both during the day and at night. Work will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and again from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The work is not expected to create noise issues. The goal of these repairs is to fix aging infrastructure and reduce sanitary sewer backups. This work requires equipment that will be stationed over the sanitary manholes.
These repairs are anticipated to last three to four weeks with future phases of work planned.
