Inis Grove Playground to Close; Preparations Beginning for New Playground

Post Date:07/12/2019 6:00 PM
The Ames Homebuilders Association will be dismantling the playground near the Walnut Shelter at Inis Grove Park beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17. Inis Grove Park is located at Duff Avenue and 24th Street.
Members of the Association are donating their time to remove the structure in order to prepare the area for the installation of an all-inclusive playground. Construction on the new playground is scheduled to begin later this summer. The existing playground, which includes a well-known fish play feature, should be completely removed by the end of the day. Parts of the playground will be used as replacement parts for playgrounds in other parks.
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 36 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are offered year-round at the Community Center, Ames/ISU Ice Arena, and Municipal Pool.
