Public Input Sought for CDBG Consolidated & Annual Action Plans

The public is encouraged to provide input to the City of Ames on its 2019-2023 five-year CDBG /HOME Consolidated and 2019-20 Annual Action Plans, which will outline the proposed activities, project locations, and proposed budgets being funded by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974. The federal budget allocation for the 2019-20 CDBG program is $581,207 and for the HOME Program is $481,968. This funding covers the current fiscal year through June 30, 2020.
Both Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds can be used to implement a wide variety of housing, community and economic development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and the provision of improved community facilities and services.
The funded activities must meet the following three national objectives:
- Benefit persons of low and moderate income
- Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight
- Meet other community development needs of particular urgency
Written comments or inquiries may be submitted to the Department of Planning & Housing at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. Ames, Iowa 50010, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org through Friday, August 9. The Ames City Council will also discuss the approval and submittal of the plan at 6 p.m. August 13 at City Hall, Council Chambers, 515 Clark Ave.
Copies of the Annual Action Plan are available for review at the Department of Planning & Housing, Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave. The plan also is available on the City’s website at www.cityofames.org/housing
