UPDATE: Hickory Drive Improvements Project Begins July 1

Post Date:06/25/2019 11:00 AM
Improvements to Hickory Drive from Westbrook Drive to Woodland Street, originally scheduled to begin June 24, have been postponed due to a delay on the power pole relocation. The project is now expected to begin Monday, July 1, weather permitting.
The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts Inc. to complete this project, which includes water main replacement and transfers, pavement improvements, and repair or replacement of select storm sewer and sanitary sewer.
The first phase of the project will include water main replacement and transfers along the west side of the entire length of Hickory Drive, starting on the northeast end of the project. Residents are asked to remove all planting and brick pavers within the right-of-way along the project area by July 1.
The second and subsequent phases of the project will include pavement improvements and repair or replacement of select storm and sanitary sewer, and will begin after completion of the first phase. The project is anticipated to be completed by Oct. 25.
Hickory Drive will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. However, access will be allowed for residents. All are encouraged to take note of construction activity and exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
