The plant accepts mostly residential light commercial garbage (that you would normally put out for your garbage hauler), including but not limited to paper, plastic, cardboard, furniture and carpets.
There is an additional charge of $20.00 per appliance, including non-motorized. Appliance may include but is not limited to stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, water heater, humidifier, dehumidifier, washer, dryer.
Tires are accepted for the following fees:
16" and smaller $2.25 per tire
16" to 24" $4.25 per tire
24" and larger $6.25 per tire
Any tire on a rim: Actual tire disposal charge + $5.00 for the rim.
Tractor tire: $35.00
Up to 5 gallons of waste oil is accepted free of charge: $.25 per gallon is charged over 5 gallons. Large generators will be directed to a waste oil recycler.
Car batteries are accepted free of charge.
Construction and demolition waste is not accepted at the plant: these wastes must be taken to the Ames-Story Environmental Landfill at 2101 Watt Street. Call 515-232-5864 for hours of operation and fees.
