The official snow route is indicated by red in the map below. These are arterial roads and CyRide routes. These streets have been approved by the City Council for vehicles to be ticketed and towed when the snow ordinance is in effect.
The streets shown in red are high priority roads that connect the snow route roads. These are heavily traveled roads near schools and the fire stations. If the snow ordinance goes into effect, vehicles will be ticketed or towed on these streets.
The red streets will be plowed when there is two inches of snow accumulation or higher.
The entire City of Ames is plowed when accumulation reaches three inches.
Vehicles on non-snow route residential streets will not be towed.
