Goodwill Industries, 3718 Lincoln Way, Ames, accepts TVs and computers for refurbishing/resale and recycling, at no charge.
If you're a resident and want to get rid of your own home computers or TVs, you can just throw them away. Only two units per residential customer will be accepted per day. For instance one computer system and one TV, or two computer systems or 2 TVs will be accepted per day. You will need to call your garbage hauler to find out if there's an additional charge to pick these up for you at your residence with the rest of your garbage. If you wish to recycle them, the following are places that accept computers and TVs:
