The City of Ames is currently accepting applications for a part-time Community Safety Officer in the Police Department. This position will work a total of 18-20 hours/week. Possible shifts are listed below, but are flexible:

Essential Functions:
Patrols assigned areas either on foot
or in a vehicle and issues tickets for parking violations. Reports
parking meter defects to superiors. Prepares and maintains relevant
reports. Responds to calls that do not require a sworn Police
Officer, such as assisting with traffic direction, and initiating
case reports on minor incidents such as vandalism, theft, etc.
Testifies in court regarding parking and other incidents witnessed.
Assists with transporting prisoners.

High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license. Preference may be given to candidates with a developed interest in law enforcement. Candidates must be able to walk for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
Salary:
$13.75/hour

Selection Process:
A
limited number of candidates will be chosen to participate in an
oral board interview. Post-job offer physical and background check
will be required.
