Drum Magnet 2

The shredded refuse moves along conveyors from the primary shredder to a suspended drum electromagnet.  Ferrous metal (any metal containing iron) is attracted to the magnet and pulled up off the waste stream.  The magnet holds the metal to the drum while allowing reusable refuse to fall back into the waste stream.  The drum rotates the metal around the top and over and drops the ferrous metal onto a series of conveyors that will drop the metal into the back of a waiting semi trailer.  When the trailer is full, it is transported to a scrap dealer for sale.

This process removes approximately 99% of ferrous metals from the shredded garbage.
