LABORATORY MODIFICATIONS COMPLETE

The process to outfit a new laboratory for the Ames Water and Pollution Control Department has finally been completed.

Prior to 2001 the Department maintained two separate laboratories, one at the Water Treatment Plant and one at the Water Pollution Control Plant.  When the Technical Services Complex was built in 1993, space on the second floor was set aside for a future combined water/wastewater laboratory.  A 1999 Capital Improvement Project completed finishing this space.  By combining the two laboratories into a single unified facility, the Department is able to maximize the effectiveness of both staff and resources.

The final modifications to the new laboratory space were designed by the Des Moines' office of Howard R. Green Company.  The general contractor was Bergstrom Construction of Des Moines.  Major subcontractors included ACI Mechanical, Jaspering Electric, Innovative Labs, and Reflections Glass.
