Ames Parks & Recreation Department
will host a local meet on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. This program is open to all children 9 through 14 years of age and is the first step in qualifying for the State Meet
and National Meet, which is held each August in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Each year a minimum of five Iowa children receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Meet, courtesy of the Hershey Chocolate Company. Events include: 50, 100,
200, 400, 800, 1600 meter runs; 4x100 meter relay; standing long jump & softball throw.
