Contractor Registration
All contractors must register with the City of Ames to apply for a permit. All general and specialty contractors must provide proof of $500,000.00 contractor liability insurance.
Mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors must also be licensed with the City of Ames as Master Contractors to apply for permits. Contact the Inspections office at (515)239-5153 for additional information.
Permits
Construction permit applications can be obtained in the Inspections Division located on the second floor in the Ames City Hall building at 515 Clark Ave., Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
