We require that permits be applied for by registered master licensed plumbers and electricians and mechanical permits applied for by master licensed mechanical contractors. All work must be done by registered, licensed plumbers, electricians and mechanical contractors.

All general and specialty contractors shall be registered with the State of Iowa and proof of $500,000 general contractor liability insurance.

Construction permit applications can be obtained in the Inspections Division located on the second floor in the Ames City Hall building at 515 Clark Ave., Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
