CyRide
provides the Ames community with one of the best transportation
systems in the nation.
The City-wide bus system transports over 3 million people per year,
and offers reliable and inexpensive transportation. CyRide
offers the community several services: the Dial-A-Ride
service operates for persons with disabilities and elderly persons
at all time the fixed routes
are operating. All buses are wheelchair accessible. The
Moonlight Express service offers a
safe ride on Friday and Saturday nights from 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
when ISU is in session.
Ames has an extensive bike path system.
The Ames Public Library provides many materials, resources, programs, and services.
We have the first municipally-owned/operated
Resource Recovery Plant in U.S.,
allowing 80% of area garbage to be burned for fuel.
