Block Grant Program (CDBG)
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federally funded program of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). CDBG funds must be used to meet one of the following national objectives:
Benefit low and moderate income persons in any of the
following ways:
Provide area benefit (census of at least 51% low and moderate
income persons)
Directly benefit low/moderate income persons
Provide low/moderate income housing
Create/retain jobs for low/moderate income persons
Aid in preventing or eliminating slum and blight
Eliminating slum/blight in a specific area
Eliminating slum/blight on a specific property
Eliminating slum/blight in an urban renewal area
The City of Ames beginning July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008
will receive $500,165 of which approximately $400,132 will be
available to administer the following programs:
Childcare Assistance Program
Deposit Assistance Program
Homebuyers Assistance Program
Transportation Assistance Program
