Ames Electric Services Requests Feedback Regarding Electric Car Charging Stations
Ames Electric Services is seeking feedback from Ames residents and visitors regarding the future installation of electric charging stations capable of recharging electric vehicles. As sales of all-electric vehicles continue to increase, the interest in charging stations located around the community continues to grow.
Ames Electric Services will be installing a changing station in the newly renovated parking lot west of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. A second charging station will be installed along East Carroll Avenue by Bandshell Park. The stations would be a combination of parking and fee-for-service electric charging and should be installed by the end of the year.
Two additional charging stations are being considered. Participants are asked to take the survey on the front page of the City’s website (www.CityOfAmes.org) to provide input on their preferred locations. The survey is located at the bottom of the page as part of the “In the Spotlight” section. The survey will remain active through Monday, October 23.
“We want to place these charging stations in locations that offer the most benefit to electric vehicle drivers,” said Ames Electric Services Director Donald Kom. “We hope with expanded accessibility to charging stations that more people will embrace owning an electric vehicle.”
The survey is also located here.
