CyRide Seeks Public Input for Service Reduction
CyRide is seeking public input on a proposed bus service reduction to its “#9 Plum Route” that would begin in August. The Plum Route primarily covers the S. E. 16th Street corridor. The public is encouraged to share comments and concerns at a public meeting scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, in the Memorial Union, Room 3505.
Those unable to attend the meeting can provide comments online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Plumcomments2017.
CyRide had been receiving $113,000 in funding from rental management companies along this route, which allowed the transit system to operate more frequently. CyRide was recently notified that this public transit support will be discontinued after this year. Instead, rental companies will begin operating a private shuttle service for their tenants in the fall. Without this funding, the potential CyRide service reductions include:
· Buses will be operated every 40 minutes instead of every 20 minutes. (See current and new schedule at: http://www.cyride.com/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=9186.)
· Extra buses (beyond the one bus every 40 minutes) would not be able to be added to provide more capacity on this route as is CyRide’s standard policy.
The Transit Board of Trustees will consider comments received and make a final decision on these proposed changes at its Thursday, March 30, 2017 meeting. For more information about this change, contact CyRide at 515.292.1100 or email email@example.com.
